Humakt

Humakt is known primarily as the god of Death and War but he was not always known as such. Humakt also possesses the rune of truth. Truthseekers are virtually unknown outside of the Humakt Temple. Truthseekers often act as judges and mitigators though outsiders believe them to be Humakti. The value of truth is exists only in relation to life and Truthseekers are champions of life.

Presented here are two new domains for clerics in the d0 system. These domains add the ideas of city and state deities and flesh them out with domain powers and spells. City and state deities were historically common and are often missing from d20 campaign settings.

After they have become bored with the core set of character types players turn to more unusual ones. There are only so many permeations on the fighter and priest, sooner or later everyone starts looking further a field for characters to play.

In order to encourage this kind of rut breaking and stereotype flying in the face of we humbly offer this small collection of new legendary abilities. Singers, healers, and hunters deserve a little more super power glamour.

New RuneQuest Released by Mongoose Publishing!

Mongoose RuneQuest

Well Mongoose Publishing has released the new version of RuneQuest. I have yet to see a copy of it. I doubt it’s available in my local hobby stores (King’s Hobby or Dragon’s Lair) as yet.

The discussion on the RQ-Rules list has been pretty fractious at this point. Some folks say it diverges too much from the old RuneQuest some say it’s still a Basic Roleplaying variant. I’m sure it’s both. To me it presents an alterative to the d20 system that is open (at least to some degree.) In the meantime you can find all the previews available here.

I plan on getting a copy of the rules as soon as possible and seeing if I can get a group together. We do plan on publishing free adventures and resources for RuneQuest online here soon. Read the rest of this entry »

Basic Roleplaying

Chaosium’s Deluxe Basic Role Playing is still under development and seems to be progressing well. The chapter on powers is undergoing major revision at present and the writer, Jason Durall, has stated that the chapter should be released to testing very soon. The powers chapter is the only one that required major revision. The other chapters are undergoing minor revision and will be posted along with the powers chapter.

Basic RolePlaying

So I haven’t been able to actually to any testing of the rules – heck I haven’t even had the time to read through all of them. I really need to print them out and well it’s like 348 pages so even if I double up the number of page per sheet and print them double sided I’m still looking at a good 87 pages.

The formatting of the play test rules is, as expected, pretty plain. Which can make for some dense reading – ultimately I’m sure they will look good as Chaosium has historically been quite good with production quality.

Basic RolePlaying

I just started play testing Deluxe Basic Role-Playing which is to be published by Chaosium sometime this year. So far it looks very good and very flexible – able to work with a variety of genres and milieus. So far we have received perhaps half of the test and it comes in at a whopping 340+ pages. Of course once formatted for publication it will probably not be so voluminous – the font will be smaller I am sure and laid out in multiple column format.
